Winners!
Poets for Human Rights announces the 2007 Anita McAndrews Award poetry contest winners and the 2007 Alexander Popoff Youth USA & International Award poetry contests winners.

Welcome!
You have arrived at the main web site for Poets for Peace and Poets for Human Rights. Poets for Peace was created in 1997 when I realized it was time to create a monument for peace in place of war. I felt a need to balance all the trash with positive poetic work. And it did do that spreading out into the real world with global live readings over the last several years. Recently, after looking at the world scene I have realized that it is time for a change and embrace a cause and purpose that affects every strata of our society - Human Rights. Human rights violations mount every day from spousal abuse to racism to outright tyranny. Like Poets for Peace before it, Poets for Human Rights is an international phenomenon and a subject that everyone can agree upon. Our war against tyranny continues.
The Poets 4 Peace web site will also be available through this portal in the near future. Please understand as always this is and has been a labor of love and it takes time to build a web site let alone a peaceful society.
The doctrine from which we operate, if you will, is the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights written in 1948. This document defines human rights as it should be. It is a shame that close to 60 years have gone by and there are still so many human rights violations in this world. It is time to do something about it!
